The PlayStation 3, often referred to as the PS3, was released in the United States on November 17, 2006. It is the third game console produced by Sony Computer Entertainment, following the PlayStation and the PlayStation 2. It is similar to the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii in that it is part of the seventh generation of game consoles.
The PS3 was the first game console to include a Blu-ray Disc drive, but it also supports DVDs and CDs. Originally, there are four hardware models: a 20, a 40, a 60, and an 80 gigabyte model. However, in April 2007, Sony quit selling the 20 GB PS3 in America, saying there was not a big demand for it, although it is still sold in Japan. Each package contains one or two Sixaxis controllers, a USB cable, a composite video/stereo audio output cable, an Ethernet cable, and a power cable.
